You have a full schedule and the whole list of things that demand your time and attention. It feels that the only option is to cut down your sleep time. Not a good option. When you get less sleep than what your body requires (7-9 hours is an average), it will show in your overall health.

SLEEP DEPRIVATION:

1) LOWER IMMUNE SYSTEM
It makes your body prone to catch any seasonal sickness and increases the time recovery.

2) WEIGHT GAIN
It decreases hormone leptin, the appetite suppressant and increases hormone ghrelin which causes you overeat.

3) CORTISOL LEVELS
It changes your cortisol levels: low during a day – you feel sleepy and high at night – you cannot fall asleep.

4) BRAIN
It decreases your brain function.

5) MEMORY
It can impair both short and long-term memory

6) MOOD
It makes you moodier and overly emotional

7) ILLNESS
Increases risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn.
